We have heard and read a lot about the impact of the climate change and how bad it is, but, unfortunately, that’s not all. There are still some Global Warming effect that surprise the scientists and some of them are weird.

1. Disappearing Lakes

Global Warming Effects

Allegedly the Global Warming is the reason for disappearing of an unbelievable number of 125 lakes in the Arctic area in last few decades. Scientists are not sure about the reason, but the most recent researches say that the most probable cause is thawing out of the frost underneath the lakes. That lets the water seep out through the soil, leaving the lake’s ecosystem without home.

2. Growing Mountains

Global Warming

While melting of the ice causes disappearing of lakes in the Arctic, it “helps” mountains grow. The glaciers on top of the snowy mountains are heavy and push the mountain to the Earth’s surface. The melting of the glaciers causes this weird Global Warming effect, as there’s no weight to press and the mountains grow a little. Since the global warming is speeding up, this process is faster in last few decades.

3. The Arctic Is Blooming

Although some ecosystems loose their habitat in the Arctic, another weird global warming effect causes blooming of Arctic’s flora. The plants there are “trapped” in ice for most of the year, but since spring comes earlier it melts the ice and makes the plants bloom. Recent researches have shown that higher levels of the form of the photosynthesis product chlorophyll in modern soils than in ancient soils, pointing out to this effect.

4. More Allergies

Well, the Arctic is not the only place where plants bloom earlier. Statistics show that more and more Americans suffer from allergies and asthma. The reason why is the earlier blooming, which causes the plants produce more pollen. However, that’s not the only way the global warming impacts the allergy vulnerability – the pollution leave people more vulnerable to the airborne allergens they breathe in.

5. Satellites Speed Up

The speeding up of the satellites is a proof that the Space is ruthless toward humanity when it comes to our environmental behavior. Satellites orbiting around the Earth face with air molecules which slow them down, so the engineers have to periodically put them back on track. But the increased emission of carbon dioxide release heat the warms the air. Those molecules collide less frequently, cooling the air around them, and settling the air. With more carbon dioxide up there, the atmosphere creates less drag for the satellites, letting them move faster.

6. Moving To The Hills

Scientists have proved that many of the animal species that live on hills today, have lived on lower grounds earlier. They believe that animals such as mice and squirrels have moved to the hills because of the climate change, and warn that the same could happen to polar bears and other animal species that feel the bad consequences of the global warming the most.

7. Frozen Soil Thawing

Despite the lakes in the Arctic, you could also face with disappearing of your house. Well, maybe this weird global warming effect is not so extreme, but it at least damages highways, railroads and houses. The climate changes cause thawing of the frozen soil underneath the ground’s surface, and it changes its shape. When it happens on higher on mountains, even rockslides and mudslides are possible option. But the weirdest of all is the possibility the ancient corpses to be found, so some ancient diseases could re-emerge.

8. Ruined Monuments

Ancient civilizations had used building methods that helped their monumental buildings last for millenniums, but it seems that the global warming is stronger than time. Floods in Thailand have already damaged a 600 years old site, but the floods are not the only danger for them, as the hot weather itself is the greatest threat.

9. Ultimate Survivor

Spring comes earlier, but those animal species which migrate hasn’t understood it yet. Nevertheless, they have to reset their internal clock in order not to miss out all the food. With this tempo of global warming, only those which will manage to do so, will also pass it on their genetic profile and survive the climate changes.

10. Brown Water

Warmer temperatures are expected to cause more colored organic matter to run off into lakes, turning the water brown. That will kill the plants at the bottom of the lakes, as they need sunlight to survive. That means that the animal species which eat those plants will have to find something else to feed them, which will cause significant drop of their number. The whole ecosystem will start to disappear.
